COVID-19 Policy & Procedures 2021-2022 Season
Durango Nordic Ski Club is committed to providing an outdoor recreation experience for you and your family for the 2021-2022 winter season while being in alignment with local health guidelines for COVID-19. Our operations this year again will be guided by the direction of state and local health district officials. This page is intended to clarify Durango Nordic Ski Club (DNSC) operations in relation to COVID-19 public health directives, provide clarity on when programs might be canceled, and document the DNSC refund policy. Please note that these policies may be revisited throughout the season depending on COVID-19 conditions in La Plata County.
The San Juan Basin Health District (SJBH) provides local leadership and direction on how to mitigate risk and protect the health and welfare of the public with respect to COVID-19. DNSC is committed to following the most updated SJBH guidelines which are located here. SJBH maintains the color-coded alert system which reflects our county’s (La Plata) current restrictions. Changes of alert level may require modifications to how we run our programs and events and determine cancellation.
The CO Department of Public Health maintains guidance by sector as well. DNSC adheres to the Guidance for Outdoor Recreation.
Major changes in SJBH advisories will prompt DNSC to assess how to modify our policies and procedures in the interest of public safety. Expectations for the center, programs, and our cancellation and refund policy follow.
Nordic Center Facility:
The indoor Nordic Center building and restrooms will be open to the public. Employees and visitors are required to wear face coverings while inside the building.
Please note that staff and volunteers follow the SJBPH guidelines noted above regarding masking, testing, vaccination, and staying home when feeling unwell.
Sales (day passes, rentals, lessons, etc) will be offered online on this website.
Limited staff will be onsite to handle in-person sales.
Guests will be directed to first attempt to pay online to reduce contact between staff and visitors.
Advance reservations are required for lessons.
Rentals are reservable in advance.
Trail grooming will not be affected by COVID-19 policies. Follow DNSC’s Twitter feed to receive grooming reports.
If you are unable to follow these rules, your pass may be revoked and/or you will be asked to leave the Nordic Center.
Events:
Coke Races, Howlers, Pine Needle Langlauf, McDonalds Winter Triathlon, skate clinics, lessons, etc. are all subject to SJBH guidelines at the time of the event.
Durango Nordic’s website and social media will provide updates on COVID-19 policies for events.
Programs (Youth, Adult, Lessons, and Clinics):
DNSC reserves the right to require proof of vaccination for program participants who are eligible for COVID-19 vaccines.
DNSC will enforce the same mask requirements noted within the Nordic Center Facility section of this document for all program participants.
Coaching staff will establish predefined locations where each group is to arrive and congregate so as to limit mixing and keep group size as recommended by SJBH guidelines.
All DNSC coaches, staff, and any program participant (lesson and clinic participants excluded) will track their symptoms throughout the season.
An individual’s ability to participate in a weekly practice depends on whether they are presenting with a major symptom (as defined by SJBH) or not.
A lesson or clinic participant should not attend their lesson or clinic if they are presenting with a major symptom (as defined by SJBH).
